Search for Work in a Weak Market
It is not uncommon today that people need jobs, but there is not enough work to go around due to the poor economy, which results in the job market being weakened. Even after repeated attempts to get hired, some fail miserably, ending up right back where they started-unemployed and without money, not knowing where the next meal will come from. If this sounds like you, and you are desperately trying to make a living, you'll want to pay careful attention to the three following strategies.
The first thing you'll want to do when job seeking is that you'll want to have a well written resume. This resume will show off your skills, expertise, and enable the potential employer to make a well informed decision concerning whether or not you'll be hired. Be sure that the resume is written in a way that will attract his attention, for the best resumes will make it to the top of the pile and will be more likely to stay on the employer's mind. Should a resume not be required along with the application, include it anyway for good measure, as this will show you are putting forth an immense effort to be in the workforce, as well as proves to the employer that you are proactive and capable of hard work.
The second thing you'll want to do, once your resume is nicely written, is that you'll want to begin your search. One place you are sure to find jobs you'll actually like is on Craig's List. All that you'll need to do is to go to the jobs category, and then you'll select the type of job you are interested in. If you cannot find any jobs local to you that are appealing, that is fine since Craig's List has a telecommute option, which will allow you to work from home anywhere in the country, or world, with a company as if you were at the workplace. Craig's List makes job seeking much easier than if you were to drive around town and waste gas, as you'll have access to hundreds of job listings all in one place with just a few clicks.
Once you've found your preferred job on Craig's List, you'll need to get in contact with the employer. If there is a phone number present, give them a call letting them know you are very interested in the position. Follow up the call with a professionally written email with your resume enclosed. Once you've done this, wait a week and a half and follow up with them again. Be sure to follow up with them more than once because the squeaky wheel gets the grease, meaning that if you keep making yourself known, you'll be more than likely to get the job. If there is not a phone number present, that is fine also, as you can email the employer asking to be contacted by phone to discuss the details of the position. Once contacted, follow the same process as outlined above and follow up. Be sure to apply for more than one job listing in case some of them fall through. This will ensure better success.
The third strategy you could use to make money in these troubling times is a much different approach to acquiring income than looking for work in the conventional job market. What you can do is market any of your special skills. For instance, can you troubleshoot and fix computers? Can you design graphics? Can you write well? Are you good at working with audio? Can you create images or shoot outstanding pictures? If you possess any sort of special skill, these are assets you could use to make some mad profits, especially if you know how to sell yourself. You could join forums, such as the Warrior Forum, computerforums.org, Associated Content, the forums on Site Point, Constant Content, EWealth, or the forums on CNET to get to know people and land business contracts. Of course, you'll have to take part in the forums for awhile and participate in discussions some time before selling yourself, as just jumping right in from the start can be seen as spam. Participate in discussions pertaining to your expertise, and offer as much advice as you can because your whole aim is to build up a reputation for yourself, which will create trustworthy business relations. When people do finally take an interest in you, be sure to have some samples of your work ready along with your resume. Unlike the regular world of job seeking, where a resume is normally required, it is not usually required in this circumstance, though, having one will score more points for you in the department of landing contracts or acquiring long term gigs.
Now should you decide to do work for Constant Content or Associated Content, there is no need to participate in the forums unless you desire to. You can get to work instantly without having to wait for people to trust you. Just make sure you do work that is of good quality, and you'll be sure to attract a sizable crowd, and your work will turn into cash. Furthermore, if customers like your work, they may request you to work for them for good, providing for you a steady income. It has been well known that many people land long term contracts with customers, partners, or other content producers, just to name a few.
Linked In is another business social networking site where you could jump start your career. On the site, you'll find many interest groups that will enable you to build up your network. The bigger the network, the more power you possess, as this will give you a wider pool of potential clients. Not to mention, building trustworthy business relations will really pay off. You are always sure to find work on Linked In.
If you implement these three strategies, you are sure to have a much easier time finding work than your counterparts. After all, you have one up on them in that you've just read these strategies that are a surefire way to success, and they have not. So, go out there, break a leg, and put some much needed and much deserved cash into your pocket. You can't afford to delay another minute!
